360-degree video is one-way consumers can have a VR experience without spending a lot of money or having to go out of your way to find a location that can provide you with the top-of-the-line VR equipment. You may even have experienced 360-degree video without realizing it. This style of VR is becoming more popular on the internet especially on Facebook and Youtube.

360-degree videos are accessible to everyone with internet access. Consumers can find them on a computer or laptop using a mouse to navigate, or on a phone or tablet by just moving the phone around moves the view of the virtual space in the video, acting as a window into another world. Combined with a simple VR headset, such as the Google Cardboard, 360-degree videos can be turned into a more immersive VR experience.

360-degree video is being used a lot for online advertising, with upcoming TV shows like Netflix’s summer hit Stranger Things use 360-degree videos to add a layer of immersion, making it feel like the characters are around you. The more immersive advertisement adds a new way for fans to interact beyond just on a screen. It is also bringing about a new type of comedy video, and horror content with content creators fully using the entire 360-degree space to tell new stories.
